Each year, more than 270 million new laptops are manufactured worldwide, with major brands like HP, Dell, and Lenovo publishing detailed carbon footprint reports for every device.
On average, a new laptop’s first life is estimated at four years, with the majority of its carbon footprint front-loaded into production. In fact, research shows that 77% of emissions come from manufacturing, 6% from distribution, 17% from use, and less than 1% from end-of-life handling.
By extending the lifecycle through the BSI-certified refurbishment process, Ikonic reintroduces devices into circulation at their second life stage. This dramatically reduces environmental impact, avoiding the heavy emissions of new production and leaving a significantly lower carbon footprint than buying new.

The original equipment manufacturers (OEM) supply each products carbon footprint. A HP 840 G5 emits 290kg CO2eq. per unit manufactured. BSI refurbishment takes 15kg to process. A saving of 275kg CO2eq. per every unit.
